An egg yolk contains about 186 milligrams of cholesterol.Some findings: Eating 300mg of dietary cholesterol per day was linked with a 17% higher risk of incident cardiovascular disease and 18% higher risk of death from all causes. Eating 3-4 eggs per week was linked with a 6% higher risk of cardiovascular disease and 8% higher risk of death from all causes. âThe take-home message is really about cholesterol, which happens to be high in eggs and specifically yolks,â said co-corresponding study author Norrina Allen, Ph.D., in a release. âAs part of a healthy diet, people need to consume lower amounts of cholesterol.
